Germinating Seeds Faster

Watch your seeds grow!

Paper Towel Germination

Paper towels provide an excellent medium for germinating seeds. They are pathogen-free and make it simple to control the moisture content for proper germination. This method makes it fun to observe when your seeds have germinated. Our experience was as early as 3 days before we witnessed a root growing.

To use this method:

  1. Use two moistened paper towels.

  2. Place seeds approx. 2 inches apart on one paper towel then cover the seeds with the other paper towel.

  3. Use a sandwich zip lock bag to place the seeds inside. The bag acts like a miniature green house that retains heat and moisture.

  4. Tape the bag to a window with sunlight.

  5. In about 2 weeks remove the paper towel with seedlings. Gently remove the seedling and transfer into a 3 inch peat pot with moist soil. Make sure to have about a pinky finger size hole to place the root in.  Make sure the leaves are above the soil.

Germinating Seeds & Hydrogen Peroxide

Seeds need light, water and oxygen to germinate. Hydrogen Peroxide breaks down the seed coat allowing it to take in more oxygen. Mix one cap of hydrogen peroxide with 1 cup of water and watch your seeds germinate! We noticed roots by the 3rd day. After you have a seedling transfer to a 3 inch peat pot with moist soil. Make sure to have a hole big enough to insert the root.
